Have you ever listened to a song you've known for years and suddenly picked up on a nuance in the lyrics that changes your whole interpretation of the message? Upon closer inspection, some of the songs that are considered the most "romantic" of all time aren't as lovey dovey as they seem.

Reading this made me think of the time I first heard “I’m Not the Only One” on a road trip with my sister. We both assumed it was a breakup anthem, but the lyric about “the taste of love” actually stuck in our heads as a reminder of the family bond we shared. Later, when we finally figured out the real story behind the song, it felt like we’d uncovered a hidden layer to a memory that had been playing on repeat for years. It’s funny how many tracks we label as “love songs” because they fit a mood, only to discover a completely different narrative later on. I’ll definitely be listening more closely now, especially when the chorus sounds…
